An institution of Kathak and Sattriya Dance (presently only Sattriya), Sri Ramkrishna Talukdar, a renowned performer, and acclaimed Sattriya Artiste Rumi Talukdar uses grammatical methods to teach Sattriya. This institution now pays emphasis on teaching the globally demanded subject – ‘ Performing Arts’ in its entirety – starting from the pure dances, the various glamorous Abhinaya pieces (expressive compositions), the stage presentation, technical know-how on the lights & sounds to the other stage requirements. To ensure the learning of the students, yearly exams are also held by the institution inviting upon various eminent personalities having knowledge on such an art form. This institution had its inception since 1987 and has groomed many artistes earning name and fame for themselves in this field. Nartan Kala Niketan has many branches that are run by accomplished disciples of the institution in various places in Assam and also one in Kolkata. Foreigner students had come all the way to Assam to learn this dance form under this institute. The institution had also completed its Silver Jubilee in the year 2011-12. Through its multi faceted activities like regular dance classes, specialised sessions with guest artists, dance workshops and innumerous performances throughout India and abroad, this institution has made a mark in developing and propagating Sattriya dance.
